Behemoths of the DEEP The biggest of all rays, and indeed among the biggest of all fishes.
A mighty creature
Unlike other rays, such as Eagle rays, sting rays, and devil rays, all of which possess a spine or sting at the base of their tails, Mantas have no overt physical defences, and are therefore generally not dangerous to divers. Only their great weight and size are potentially hazards. It is capable of reaching nearly 7m across and weighing up to 1400 kg. IT IS TRULY A GIANT OF THE SEA Photo by Black Squid |
